Figs & Feta turns 1, Baklava Cupcakes, and a Giveaway!

Baklava Cupcake |

One year ago this month I published my first entry at Figs & Feta.

Funny story: I was a little unfamiliar with the platform at the time and accidentally clicked “publish” on my rough draft entry. Rather than deleting and starting over, I decided to let fate and faith take over.  I’m so glad I did…

Figs & Feta started out as a way to share my love for Greek food, my heritage and my family’s recipes as well as to enrich my love for photography and writing.

You may have noticed Figs & Feta has received a little update. We look a little different but our goals are still the same:

1) To offer timesaving tips and short cuts updating the traditional tastes of Greece and the Mediterranean without sacrificing the rich flavors;

 2) To share original, creative and Modern Greek and Mediterranean creations for the 21st Century appetite!

To celebrate this fun and exciting year, I’ve teamed up with Old School Favorites , O Olive Oil  and Kings n Queens Jewelry of Greece to give one lucky reader an awesome supply of goodies including a Figs & Feta coffee mug and tote!

1 Year Birthday Giveaway! |

To enter for a chance to win simply comment below on this post and answer the following question: What was your favorite Figs & Feta recipe published this year?

One winner will be selected at random at midnight on Sunday, February 22, 2015. (Shipping to US residents only- sorry!)  (This giveaway has ended.  Please check to see if you won!)

Baklava Cupcakes |

Birthdays call for cake, so for this one I’ve created a Baklava Cupcake. I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for a thrilling year! I’ve enjoyed this year tremendously and look forward to another exciting year ahead sharing tasty Greek-inspired goodies.

A few fun Figs & Feta stats: to date we’ve produced 75 posts, received 247 comments and 51,920 views. Some of the most popular recipes are Frappé Oreo Ice Cream, Classic Greek Butter Cookies, Fully Loaded Spiced Greek Fries, Lamb and Pork Souvlakia and Baklava Cheesecake Wedges.

  • I love them all, but I guess if I had to pick, I would choose the olive oil cake…..I still remember you saying “it’s gotta taste like CAKE” lol Congratulations!!!

  • I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished with F&F! • Love your baklava cheesecake recipe. I always have leftover end pieces of baklava and this is such a creative way to use them. I’m eager to try the cupcakes even more. My grandsons are more than pleased to taste test them.

  • Xronia Polla!! I have loved following your page and was so excited when Fr. Jason Roll shared your page on his Facebook shortly after I was experiencing serious Ionian Village withdrawal. My favorite recipes so far have been the baklava cheescakes (because I can never have enough baklava and can’t wait to try the cupcakes!) and the frape oreo ice cream (you combined my 2 favorite things!). Thank you for sharing your journey and delicious recipes with us and bringing a little taste of home to our modern American tables :)

  • Congratulations and Happy Birthday! I love all of your posts and recipes…my hands down favorite is the Fava post! Oh, I love the yellow Fava…in fact, I just added it to my menu plan for the weekend!!

  • Xronia Polla Sandra! You have created a tasty creative blog to Greek Food and Desserts. My favorite is Baklava Cupcake. Many more years of creating goodies.

  • It’s all so deliciously amazing, how can a foodie choose just one?? I am literally stressing for a final decision… but Limoncello Filo cups are too easy and refreshing to leave out. But also in the spirit of the season the Lenten Chocolate chip cookies, those are pretty dank. Baklava pop tarts…okay, you see where this is going… :)

  • Congratulations! I really enjoy your blog! I’m going to have to go with the Metaxa meatballs. Awesome combination…creative too…

  • Greek yogurt pumpkin spice muffins hands down! Made these for the students I tutor for and they were so happy. I think those muffins explain why I was given such high performance reviews by them..
